Acton Mobile Industries Receives First Place in 2010 Modular Building Institute Awards of Distinction Program

2010 Modular Building Institute’s (MBI) Awards of Distinction(Baltimore, Md. — March 11, 2010) — ACTON MOBILE INDUSTRIES — a leader in providing temporary and permanent space solutions, has been awarded first place for its entry in the 2010 Modular Building Institute’s (MBI) Awards of Distinction Program.

Acton Mobile Industries award was presented for the design and construction of its new Richmond, Va. branch office building as the winner in the Permanent Office Buildings, Under 10,000 Square Feet category. Modular Genius, Inc. of Baltimore, Md. assisted with the project and the modules were built by Whitley Manufacturing of South Whitley, Ind.

The 2,940 square foot building is comprised of 3 – 14’x70’ modules and has a reception area, the branch manager’s office, and offices for three sales consultants, the operations coordinator and several administrative personnel. It also includes a sizable conference room, kitchen/break room and necessary rest room facilities. The branch office building is adjacent to the service facility and storage yard. Adequate automobile parking is located in front and on the side of the building. The building has an exterior of 1" EFIS which was applied to the exterior on site. The modules were crane set for the building to be at grade with a 36” accessible and vented crawl space below.

Acton Mobile Industries Wins First Place in 2010 Modular Building AwardsThe interior has 36oz commercial carpet in all corridors, offices, break rooms, and storage rooms. Restrooms have ceramic tile on floors and walls. Interior finishing is site finished painted drywall. There is a separate entrance for drivers with direct access to the operations coordinator area. All windows and doors are protected with an active alarm system.

Site work included the concrete steps and ramp, walkways, landscaping, driveway and parking lot, t-grid ceilings, alarm system, phone and computer cabling, crawl space venting, the EIFS (stucco), ceramic tile, and carpet.

Acton elected to use modular construction because it is typical of the product they sell and because of the quality, speed, efficiency and cost effectiveness of the process.
